CWA COMMENTS ON HMRC STAFF TRAINING

Commenting on HMRC doubling the number of its staff trained in tax evasion, Gordon Balmer, Executive Director of the CWA, said:
"Whilst it is encouraging that HMRC has increased resources to tackle this, it is vital that these resources are focused on the worst offenders." 

"The scale of non-compliance is extremely alarming and undermine legitimate car washes. Our research estimates that non-compliant hand car washes are costing the Treasury up to £500 million annually in lost tax revenue through non-payment of VAT and National Insurance."
